10 years ago: 5¼ Floppy Drive Converted to Slot-loading DVD Burner, IBM XT
Просмотров 12 тыс.8 лет назад
The Aptiva wasn't my first retro build, my first retrofit was 10 years ago on a IBM XT 5160. I'm getting an itch to revisit this mATX modded case, and put it back into commission for the old lady.
Ever seen a Floppy Disk with 118GB or more storage capacity?

Why does it look like his hand go through the screen after about 8:00?
WE ARE REINVENTING FLOPPY DISKS WITH THIS ONE!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
That's reinvention!!🗣️🗣️🔥🔥

What resolution do you normally use for your RUclips videos that you watch on the red TV?
id be mind blown at 300 megabytes of storage capacity
haha this is so awesome.
9:00 why your hand is hidden when you point at screen its fake
I honestly want to see an old style HD TV, with the channel dial able to change channels, a pull-on volume dial, and dial controls for picture quality, that can also be controlled via the remote control if I want. But it's at least 720p or even 1080p
Great 😊
I dont know if you will see this or anything but could you post how you did this? i wanted something like this for my PC for a while just so i can have a bunch of floppys with various things on them for storage xD i really love the old school nature of it

That was so hipster that made re-think the entire proyect. Great Job
Hi, can you post a link to the wallpaper you have on your desktop? Greetings!
I don't need the timer, but I don't understand how you managed to connect the Chromecast, modulator, and HDMI2AV converter to the power cable. Where can I find information that helps me?"
I'm gonna guess that you are a Gemini.

JAJAJAJA April's Fools!🤣🤣🤣 The floppy is the SD reader
I wonder if a newer, more modern floppy disk can be done with something similar to HDD platters.
I dimly remember some of the various 'Super Floppy' formats with more storage space, that were supposed to replace the old 1.44 MB disks, working pretty much exactly like that (just don't ask me which ones 😉, I lost track of all the variations...). But as we all know, not one of those really got anywhere, mostly because, compared to the storage space they offered, all those companies went too much for "let's price them like gold", for the drives as well as the disks, plus, none of those were even remotely compatible to any of the others, so almost no one had the drive matching your disk (maybe apart from the Zip or Jaz drives, for a few years)... So, they got superseded by "works anywhere" USB sticks pretty fast, after the prices of those came down far enough...
WOAH
This makes me so uncomfortable
where can i buy it?
Thank you for giving something old, a new life. We ALL should strive to do this and lower the amount of waste in our landfills. Plus it really is a beautiful tv.
dude the floppy sd card thing is fucking genius holy shit
like amazing engineering skills there
I have a vintage Sony LCD projection TV the model number is :KF-50WE610. It's in mint condition I can hook up my DVD player to it and the picture and sound is great. My problem is I can't get a around I can get into the program but I can't bring up a picture. Tell me what I need to do .
I'd never seen one of these players until today and I'm 71👴
In the description where do you buy it
i cannot tell if you’re a witch or a wizard
I find a issue with the AV to HDMI: mine simply take 4:3 content and stretches it full screen to 16:9. I prefer it smaller and letterboxed as it's less blurry that way. My HDMI to AV also makes people like thin as you said. I like to find 1980s commercials on my Roku then go to full screen. The only issue is you can see the black borders. If there was a way to zoom in the view that would be authentic. 4:3 TV's cut off the picture and over scan. In short some of the viewing area is not visible to you. I watched a DVD scene on a morden 16:9 tv (of a 1980s 4:3 tv show) where you could see a person on a phone and some graffiti on the wall and a popcorn stand far to the right. On the same DVD on the 4:3 tv, you only see the last row of words and the popcorn stand you can not see at all.
Cheers for that. Speaker upgrade is fairly simple, Techmoan did it and I plan to do it too. Oh, speaker is already non-original. Anyway good work, wish I could do something like it.
